A first glimpse of The Landmark Nicosia

The Landmark Nicosia has officially opened its doors, once again asserting itself as one of the capital’s most recognisable symbols. The renewed hotel returns to the urban life of Nicosia with fresh energy, while maintaining a deep respect for its history and long-standing status.

On 2 December, a private media breakfast offered guests a first opportunity to experience the renewed Landmark Nicosia from the inside. Built on the site of a well-known historic hotel, the property now presents itself as a modern, cosmopolitan hub of city life, where past and present meet with surprising ease.

The first impression is formed already in the lobby. A tall Christmas tree dressed in deep red tones stands in striking contrast to natural stone, light textures, and a calm, neutral colour palette. The space immediately sets the mood — understated elegance, without haste.

On the way to The Orangery Restaurant, the Grand Room opens up. Designed for unhurried meetings, reading, and private conversations, it is a space that invites you to linger. The restaurant itself feels like a bridge between eras. While remaining an important social and business meeting point in Nicosia, it has been given a fresh interpretation and a distinctly contemporary character.

Inside the restaurant, the atmosphere leans toward comfort: warm wood, soft green shades, and low music in the background. Breakfast unfolds as a carefully curated gastronomic experience, with sweet and savoury stations, live cooking elements, and close attention to detail. An omelette and a slice of apple pie feel like small, precisely judged indulgences.

As you move through the hotel, its spaces reveal themselves gradually. A bar overlooking the Grand Room, intimate corners designed for quiet pauses, and a gallery that has become part of the overall experience. Artion Galleries are integrated into the hotel’s concept, with works by Hiro Ando, Danilo Martinis, Giorgos Polymeros, and Costas Tsoklis creating a visual dialogue between art and architecture.

A dedicated memory wall stands out, featuring archival photographs of diplomats, politicians, and cultural figures. It serves as a reminder that The Landmark Nicosia has long been a witness to key moments in the country’s history and a true meeting point for the city.

In the hotel’s wellness wing, the sense of calm deepens. A modern gym, a spa designed for slow, unhurried relaxation, and an indoor pool together create the feeling of an urban retreat. Nearby, another Christmas installation appears, framed by balconies above and a restored vintage elevator, where brass details softly echo against clean contemporary lines.

It becomes clear that The Landmark Nicosia is returning to what it has always been at heart — a place of meetings, ideas, and city life. Only now, it does so with a renewed aesthetic, where historical warmth is confidently balanced with modern clarity and thoughtful design.
